Growth in chip shipments was fueled by sustained capital expenditure programs among major global technology operators expanding data center networks and enterprise AI hardware deployments. The performance marks the third consecutive month in which semiconductor export volumes exceeded the $40 billion threshold.     Geographically, outbound deliveries to major trading partners demonstrated broad-based expansion. Exports to China surged 119.3% year-on-year to $24.1 billion, supported by high-volume shipments of memory chips and industrial machinery. Deliveries to the United States grew 89.3% to $16.5 billion, led by strong demand for enterprise computing hardware and advanced semiconductors. Trade ministry records indicate that Korean exporters maintained growth across seven of the nation’s nine primary regional destination markets during the August reporting cycle.

    Memory Chip Unit Prices Support Total Export Realization Growth

    Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Kim Jung-kwan stated in an official release that non-semiconductor exports expanded by 20% overall, pointing to a broader recovery across secondary export industries. In addition to core technology components, secondary battery exports grew 24% to $600 million, while biohealth shipments rose 22.3% to a record $1.41 billion on expanded European supply contracts.
